Carl Payne is a gifted and enthusiastic sculptor whose skills encompass life-size bronze public sculpture and realistic portraiture, through to the sensitive studies of the female form, in a variety of media. His work is beautifully executed and replete with symbolism.

He was born in 1969 and lives in Stoke-on-Trent with his wife and two children. He trained at Stafford College in figurative sculpture, after studying ceramics and surface pattern design, and art and design at Burslem College of Art.

Carl built his distinguished reputation through commissioned work, many of which sit in prestigious public and private collections, and in the public domain. Some of his most well known commissions include King George 5th and Queen Mary, a life size portrait bust commissioned by Cunards Cruise Ships and located in the ballroom of the Queen Mary 2 (QM2) cruise ship; Ride a Cock Horse to Banbury Cross was commissioned by Banbury Council, located at Banbury Cross and unveiled by Princess Anne; Randolph Turpin, life size and a quarter, was commissioned by Warwick and Leamington Spa Council located in Warwick Town Centre; and Sir Stanley Matthews, life size and a half, was commissioned by the Stanley Matthews Foundation located at The Britannia Stadium, Stoke.
