Claire Wiltsher

The expressive application of Claire Wiltsher’s paint perfectly portrays the energy and wildness of her subject matter, while fluid mark-making threads across each canvas with a sense of natural turbulence. The skillful use of her brush captures a glint of sunlight on watery surface, or the dancing of branches as they shudder struck by the wind. Born in Newport, Wales, Wiltsher completed her MA Fine art at Northumbria University, and currently has work in The House of Lords permanent collection. She is also winner of the ‘Rosemary and Co Award’ at the Society of Women Artists exhibition (Mall Galleries, 2010). With her purpose-built studio located in the New Forest, Hampshire, Wiltsher’s works are produced amidst the most inspiring of scenery.

Following a period of teaching, Wiltsher decided to focus solely on her artistic practice. Her unique style is recognized in London and across much of the South West, having exhibited widely for over 28 years.
