Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition 2025

Axle Arts are pleased to announce a collaborative exhibition of sculpture suitable for siting outdoors with local arts organisation Somerset Art Works (SAW). Axle Arts invited applications from SAW member artists to exhibit in the exhibition alongside a curated selection of their gallery artists and an invited artist from BSU MFA graduates 2024. Three SAW member artists were selected: David Cutler, Sarah May Rogers and Sally Wetherall (see image). The exhibition will take place in the walled and spa gardens at the Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa in Bath.

Gallery Director and Curator Bridget Sterling has always believed collaborations are important in an ever changing and increasingly difficult art market. Collaboration encourages knowledge sharing, the development of mutual respect and diversity and can lead to more effective outcomes and stronger relations. These beliefs are reflected in the courses she runs for artists and makers.

Somerset Art Works (SAW) was established in 1994 by a group of Somerset artists aiming to network with other artists in the county whilst promoting their work to the public in an open studio event. In 2000 they registered as a limited company and established a permanent organisational structure, and in 2016 they registered as a charity. Today SAW continues to establish, maintain and support a vast communication network of creatives based in Somerset, supporting their members with their professional practice and creating opportunities to interface with the public with their open studio event and workshops.

Creative Director, Carol Carey, will officially announce SAW’s extension of their network of support and contact into the Bath area at the private view on 22nd May at 6pm. If you are interested in attending please email us at info@axlearts.com.

SAW are also inviting artists and makers in the Bath area to join their membership network and take advantage of the support and opportunities they offer. Please contact Emily Lewin at emily.lewin@somersetartworks.org.uk for all enquiries.

Exhibiting artists include: Dorothy Brook, Barry Davies RCA, David Cutler, Rachel Demuth, Mick Morgan, Sarah May Rogers, Tamsyn Trevorrow and Sally Wetherall.

The exhibition runs: Friday 23rd May – Sunday 28th Sept 2025.

Entry is free.
