We are thrilled to confirm our inaugural exhibition as Axle Arts will be an outdoor sculpture show in May 2018 working in collaboration with Tasburgh House Hotel.

Simply titled Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition, this show presents a selection of artists that work on a larger scale and whose work can be sited outdoors. This is the first collaborative exhibition between Axle Arts and Tasburgh House Hotel. Tasburgh House is a 5* boutique hotel in Bath, Somerset and would make a perfect destination for a weekend break. The first weekend coincides with Badminton Horse Trials and the second coincides with the opening of Bath Festival and the Country Living Festival, 2018. It runs over two weekends, dates are Friday 4th May to Monday 7th May and the Friday 11th May to Sunday 13th May. 

We have now decided to also add an indoor element to the exhibition since Tasburgh House is so beautiful, it simply lends itself to fine art. We will be showing ceramics by Neill Curran, smaller bronzes by Ian Edwards, paintings by Lynne Cartlidge and print by Corinna Button and Sumi Perera.

Marc Bodie works in bronze and concrete, using his own body and face as reference for his larger than life busts and sculptures. Bodie’s multi-layered work reflects the struggle and conflict of human suffering and fragility, questioning its many consequences. Dorothy Brook looks at movement, her sculptures capture the grace and beauty of dance with a clear and bold line, and are cast in bronze. Ian Edwards’ inspirational bronzes depict the strength and courage of endurance and achievements despite all. Rhian Jones is an emerging ceramic artist, hand building vessels which are smoke fired and present Japanese Kintsugi in a new light. Mick Morgan, an established ceramic artist, is based in Wales and hand builds large stoneware vessels inspired by the female form. Rick Kirby creates stainless and mild steel sculptures inspired by the human form, often creating over-sized views. Cornish based Tamsyn Trevorrow’s ceramics are inspired by the textures and colours found along her local, native coastline.
